Jon Paul Ferrara has always been passionate about art since his Mother (who will always be his biggest fan) first put a set of crayons in his hands. As an aspiring painter he attended the prestigious New York Academy of Fine Arts, and the National Academy of Design, where he studied under Nelson Shanks, official portraitist to Princess Diana.
Jon Paul’s decision to expand his creative focus from the fine arts gallery to the commercial world came when he crossed paths with the late painter and book illustrator Pino Daeni. “I went home, I said, “Ma, I know what I want to do, I know where I’m going,’” he recalls about that initial meeting with Pino. “As an artist, that was the first time I fell in love with art, to that extreme.”
Jon Paul has been falling in love with the art of romance ever since. His career spans more than three decades, during which his art has appeared on numerous magazine covers, been adapted for gaming graphics, and graced the NASDAQ Billboard in Times Square (a Valentine’s Day portrait of Fabio—of course!).
Jon Paul has earned more than thirty awards of excellence from The Romance Writers of America and his covers have appeared on many of the books chosen for the prestigious RWA RITA awards as well. Both Jon Paul’s commercial images and his fine art compositions are displayed elsewhere on the website.
